Ecological Resilience: A Transformative Factor for Human Ecology?
As Professional Human Ecologists and as students of human ecology in this transformative period in history, what capacities are needed as we try to support both local and planetary well-being? In this session, Sherry Ann Chapman, PHEc, will introduce ecological resilience. This is a biocentric concept that considers the everyday needs of all living systems, not just human needs. How can we develop ecological resilience as a capacity to help us as we serve, educate, and study how to accompany individuals, families, communities, and Earth?
In July 2024, Dr. Sherry Ann Chapman traveled to the XXV World Congress of the International Federation for Home Economics (IFHE) in Galway, Ireland to present her paper "Ecological resilience as an explicit capacity in human ecology." This professional development session will build on this IFHE presentation.
