Poster Contest Rules & Criteria

Start conversations at the AHEA Conference 2026 with our Poster Contest. This contest, held on Saturday throughout the entire duration of the day, is a prime opportunity for students and professionals to connect, showcase their work, and gain recognition in the fields of Human Ecology and Home Economics. It's an ideal platform for highlighting innovative ideas and forging impactful connections.

Eligibility:

The student poster contest is open to current University students (Bachelor, Masters, Ph.D.) and recent graduates (2025) who have registered to attend the AHEA Conference 2026. It should be noted that the poster contest is not limited to students enrolled in a Human Ecology or Home Economics program.

Maximum eight (8) posters. All students who enter the poster contest will have their conference fees covered.

The Fan’s choice poster contest is open to anyone registered to attend the AHEA Conference 2026.

Focus Area:

Activity with a research or practice focus in the field of Human Ecology & Home Economics.

Timeline:

  • Submission Proposal Deadline: April 3, 2026  @ 4PM MST

  • Acceptance Notification: April 8, 2026

  • Poster Setup: April 18, 2026, 7:15 - 8:00AM

  • Poster Session: April 18, all day

  • Students must be at their posters during breaks and intermission

  • Winners Announcement: Saturday closing remarks

Awards:

Winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place) in each category receive a certificate and recognition during the conference.

Selection Criteria:

  • Clarity and Aesthetics: 25%
  • Presentation Skills: 25%
  • Originality: 25%
  • Scientific Merit: 25%

Adjudication Committee:

Comprising members from diverse fields in Human Ecology & Home Economics. Members with conflicts of interest will recuse themselves from judging relevant entries.

Poster Display Guidelines:

  • Size: Maximum 40” (horizontal, vertical, or square).

  • Setup: In the exhibition hall on April 17, 2026, between 4:30 and 5:00 pm.

  • Display materials to be provided by participants  - trifolds and pins provided by AHEA

Poster Display Guidelines:

Submit through the online form. Include contact information, author(s) names and affiliations, poster title, and a 100-word summary.
