The Human Ecology/Home Economics professional ring was born at the 1967 annual convention of the Home Economics College Clubs when delegates from eight colleges across Canada voted to adopt a ring as a national symbol representing professional home economists.
Worn on the little finger of the working hand, the gold of the ring denotes the warmth of human connection. The many facets which rest upon the shank represents the many facets of human ecology/home economics. The circular form of the ring represents the necessity of union of all facets to fulfill our purpose of enhancing the well-being of individuals, families and communities.
