These sites provide online distance education courses and/or
programs on a variety of topics, primarily in the soft skills and
personal development areas. Many of these learning opportunities
pertain directly or indirectly to the professional work in which Human
Ecologists and Home Economists find themselves performing. Some are
directly related to our specific fields of work. Some offer Masters
Programs or Certificate programs. Some are credit courses towards a
related degree. Sites include information on program/course
descriptions, dates, costs, and equipment needed. These sites are only
a sample of some of the learning opportunities available.
www.athabascau.ca/calendar/grad/ Online distance education university. Graduate program calendar offers Masters programs in Business Administration, Project Management, Counseling, Distance Education and Graduate Diploma in Management, to name a few. www.ecampusalberta.ca/ A Consortium of 15 Alberta Colleges and Technical Institutions who have formed a partnership to develop and deliver online courses. Currently 176 courses are offered with predications that inventory will grow. Transferability may be possible. Some of the course offerings include Advertising, Child/Adolescent Growth and Development, Communicating Effectively, Federal Farm Law, Human Resource Management, Perspectives in Gerontology, Supervisory Skills. www.cted.ucalgary.ca/elearn/ Programs and courses offered via the Internet - some instructor-led, some self-directed. E-Learning programs include Certificate in Adult Learning, Management Certificates. Subscribe to their on-line newsletter outlining upcoming conferences and workshops. www.extension.ualberta.ca/cace Certificate in Adult and Continuing Education Courses offered via distance delivery, online or in-person format. Partnership with other universities. Monthly newsletter. Courses offered on a variety of topics: Helping Adults Learn, Leadership and Management Styles, Powerpoint as an Instructional Tool. www.piece.com Stands for Petroleum Institute for Continuing Education Inc. “Our Mission is HOPE - Helping Other People Excel”. Offers live interactive online seminars effective for people in remote locations. Min. of 6 required. Offers soft skills and personal development courses eg. Workplace Wisdom for Effective Delegation. This organization also offers workshops and luncheon speakers on topics of interest to some Human Ecology and Home Economics Professionals. |
