Cindy Trigg, PHEc – Helping to Provide Stepping Stones |
||
|
As a graduate of the University of Alberta, Cindy received her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics in 1990 majoring in Family Studies. Prior to this she had obtained a Diploma in Leisure Education – Therapeutic Recreation from Mount Royal College in Calgary in 1976. She has been a puppeteer, in office administration and an Audio Visual Librarian. As a Breakfast Program Coordinator she developed and implemented breakfast and educational nutrition programs for schools. Her involvement in Human Services allowed her to work with persons with disabilities and others facing financial and personal challenges leading to her current employment with clients on assistance for Saskatchewan Community Resource and Employment in Lloydminster. It has been challenging, but as she says, it is exciting to see clients taking steps that move them toward independence. Cindy volunteers with the Lloydminster Social Action Society, a group committed to addressing homelessness. They are currently working to establish an emergency shelter for men as there are none between Edmonton and Saskatoon.As Cindy stated, she has found that all of her education, work experiences and involvement in community activities has built upon the previous experiences, and even a negative one can be a stepping stone for future endeavors. Through her employment and volunteer work she enjoys helping others achieve their goals; much as she tends her roses, there may be a few thorns but the rewards are always encouraging. |
