Marcia Fossey – Jewellery Designer |

|
Marcia presently owns and runs a home based business called Ponderosa Designs. She started the business while living in Whitehorse, Yukon in 1992. In June of 1997, Marcia and her family moved to Edmonton. Many of her inspirations for her jewellery came from the Pacific Northwest First Nations Culture. Marcia developed many friendships with First Nations people from the area. She enjoys spending time, talking with, and hearing stories of their past. One of her most honored accomplishments was when she was asked to design several necklaces, which were presented to elders at a reunion for a prominent First Nations family in the Yukon. Although Marcia now resides in Edmonton, her time living in the Yukon has had a profound effect on her life and she passes this energy on to the jewellery she designs. In July of 1998, Marcia and her line of Historical Bead Jewellery received the “Symbol of Quality” from the Alberta Crafts Council. This symbol identifies quality Alberta-made craft and is one of the highest honors a Canadian crafter can receive. Her jewellery is presently in forty retail outlets including museums shops and galleries across Canada. To get a sneak preview of Marcia’s work you can find a display on the Alberta Craft Council website www.albertacraft.ab.ca/marciafossey. |
