Hope to see you at our events! HESA ConstitutionArticle I: Name and Purpose The organization is named the Human Ecology Students’ Association, with HESA being the appropriate acronym. The Human Ecology Students' Association aims to foster a sense of community amongst Human Ecology students and is committed to organizing academic, social, and pre-professional activities for its members, while promoting Human Ecology throughout the greater community. Article II: Membership and Dues A) 2/3 of all members must be students at the University of Alberta. In addition, a minimum of 1/2 of the membership shall be full members of the Students’ Union and 3/4 of the Executive Committee must be full or part time students. B) Membership is open to alumni/a, faculty, and invitees providing the membership quotas outlined in section A above are met. C) Membership dues shall be determined by each incoming executive. D) Benefits and obligations of membership shall be explained to members. E) Membership will be valid for one year only. Article III: Executive Committee and Meetings A) The executive must consist of a President and a Treasurer. It may also consist of a Secretary, Social Co-ordinator, External Relations Officer, and Promotions Co-ordinator. Any of these positions may be chaired by more than one person, when appropriate. B) Current officers are responsible for training incoming officers. C) Positions will be unofficially slated, then voted upon at the Annual General Meeting in September. Officer change over should be complete by the beginning of the winter semester in January. D) Executive meetings shall be held at least twice a month, except during exams, and holidays, when the Executive Committee will determine frequency of meeting. E) Meetings shall follow Robert’s Rules of Order. F) Motions shall be passed with a majority vote (50%+1) Article IV: Ammendments and Bylaws A) Ammendments to this Constitution can be made with motions and majority vote at the Annual General Meeting or by an elected ad hoc “Constitution Ammendment Committee”. B) Bylaws shall be developed, when necessary, in a similar manner. |
